Access

How do I get to Kinosaki Onsen?
By train (most common), plane or car. See the access page.
Do you have parking?
Yes, we have free valet parking. When you arrive at the Honkan, just pull into the gate and park in front. Our staff will move your car to the parking area.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is 3:00 pm and check-out is 11:00 am.

Rooms

What types of rooms do you have?
Standard one room (8 tatami-mat size), Standard two room (10+6 tatami-mat size), Hatsune & Asuka (with open-air bath), Matsu special room, Horai & Kangetsu special room (with open-air bath). See the rooms page for more details.
All rooms are Japanese-style.
Do you have rooms with open-air baths attached to them?
Hatsune, Asuka, Horai and Kangetsu all have private, open air baths. See the rooms page for more details.
Is the water of the open air bath natural hot spring water?
Due to regulation in Kinosaki Onsen, the water of all rooms with open-air baths is regular, heated water (not natural hot spring water). The hot spring facilities of the Honkan, however, are natural hot spring water.
Do rooms have western-style beds?
Most rooms are Japanese-style. Japanese futons are rolled out on the tatami-mat floors for you to sleep on after your dinner. Cots can be provided when requested in advance. Please inquire with us. Our Western & Japanese Room is a hybrid guest room that has two semi-double western-style beds.
What in-room amenities are provided?
Air conditioning/heating, refrigerator, TV, phone, safe, yukata sets, hair dryer, bath towels, face towels, soap, tooth brush, toothpaste, razor, shampoo, conditioner, body soap.
Is children’s bedding provided?
The futon size is the same for all guests. Online booking has adult rates only. When traveling with children 12 or younger please inquire with us directly.

Dining

What type of dinners do you serve?
Japanese kaiseki (course) dinners.
From around the beginning of November to the end of March we serve dinners featuring fresh Matsuba crab.
From April until the beginning of November we serve seasonal kaiseki menus that change each month.
Where are meals eaten?
Dinner is served in guest room and breakfast is served in our historic Senrei Hall. For large groups dinner may be served in a private dining room.
Are children’s meals provided?
Online booking has adult rates with adult menus only. When traveling with children 12 or younger please inquire with us directly. For guests 13-19 years old, please book as adult and write the number of minor age guests in the booking message. Please note that the legal drinking age for alcohol in Japan is 20 years old.
I have food allergies, can you make changes to the menu?
Tell us any food allergies or foods/ingredients that cannot be eaten by you or members of your party at least three days before you arrive. We will make efforts to adjust, but please note that not all requests can be accomodated.
What time is dinner served?
Dinner can be started from 5:30 pm or 6:00 pm. Most menus take on average 2 hours to serve, however some menus take longer.
If I stay more than one night, will the dinner menu change?
Yes, your meal will change to a different menu.

Onsen

What are the operating hours of the Honkan hot springs?
There are three hot springs at Nishimuraya Honkan.
They have the following operating hours:
Kichino-yu: 5:30am – 10:30am / 2:00pm – 12:30am
Fukuno-yu: 5:30am – 10:30am / 2:00pm – 12:30am
Shouno-yu (Hiratakan Annex): 6:30am – 9:30am / 3:00pm – 11:00pm
For rooms with open-air baths, is the water natural hot spring water?
Due to regulation in Kinosaki Onsen, the water of all open air bath rooms is regular, heated water (not natural hot spring water). The hot spring facilities of the Honkan, however, are natural hot spring water.
Do I have access to the hot springs of Kinosaki Onsen?
Yes. All guests of Honkan recieve a “yumepa pass” which is a barcode pass you can scan to get unlimited entrance to all of the seven public hot springs in Kinosaki Onsen.
Do you provide yukata for guests to wear?
Yes. We provide yukata in different sizes.
You may wear your yukata inside Nishimuraya Honkan and outside as you stroll through the streets of Kinosaki Onsen.
Please note that children younger than 6 years old must pay a separate charge for yukata.

Reservations & Payment

What is "on-site payment"?
Some booking plans on our web site have the choice or require "on-site payment". This means payment will be done at our ryokan, during check-out. If you wish to pay in advance please contact us to request.
What is "Online payment via PayPal"?
Some booking plans on our web site have the choice or require "Online payment via PayPal". This means payment is done online during the booking process and you are charged the full amount before arrival. You can use either a major credit card or funds available in your PayPal account to complete the payment.
What is "credit settlement on the web site"?
Some booking plans on our web site have the choice or require "credit settlement on the web site". This means payment is done online during the booking process and you are charged the full amount before arrival. You can use a major credit card to complete the payment.
Please explain the children’s rates.

When do I pay?
It depends on the terms and conditions of the booking you made. Please consult your reservation confirmation for specifics. Generally, for bookings made online with payment at property specified, payment will be done at check-out.
Can I pay with credit card?
Yes. We accept the following credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners, JCB, UFJ, UC, Nicos, China Union Pay
Please note that some credit cards have rules and restrictions about use overseas. Be sure to check with your credit card company before travelling.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please consult your reservation confirmation for specifics. Unless noted otherwise, bookings made directly with us have the following cancel policy

Other

Is Internet access available?
Free Wi-fi is available in all guest rooms and the lobby. Wi-fi access requires a password, consult your in-room guide book or ask at the front desk. There is also a free Internet PC terminal located in the lobby area.
Are massage services provided?
In-room massage service is provided for 4,500 JPY (incl tax). Please ask at the front desk. Massage service is available from 15:00 to 24:00.
Are laundry/cleaning services provided?
At this time, we do not offer laundry/cleaning services.
Is there a curfew?
No. However, the main gate is closed at 11:00 pm in the evening, so if you return after that time please use the door located to the left of the gate.
